Helping Your Pet Prepare for Your Return to Work

As pandemic-life slowly retreats and is replaced by a new normal for all of us, what does that mean for your furry counterparts? Your pets have grown increasingly accustomed to your work-from-home schedule.  Well, maybe some of your kitties could care less you were home so often in their domain.

So, now that you’re returning to an office work environment, what should you look out for with your animals? Take a look below at some tips and recommendations from your friends at AVC.

Ease Your Way Back Into the New Schedule
Any change in routine can cause stress for your pup or kitty. If you’re able, make the transition back to work a gradual one. Leave the house more frequently, increasing the time you’re absent every trip out.

Plan For One-on-One Time Before and After Work
Plan ahead and work toward interacting with your furball before you leave for work and after you get home. Not only will they enjoy the interaction, but these are also ways to get their energy out when they’re left to their own devices alone in your house. In the morning, take your pup for a walk. When you come home, be sure to allot a little extra playtime to give them the attention they’ve missed during the day.

Leave Something Behind
When you leave for work, leave behind their favorite toys, automatic feeders, food puzzles, and other items to keep your pet occupied. These simple engagement methods can make your absence feel a bit shorter.
