August Dental Promotion
It’s the moment we have all been waiting for!!! Our August back to school dental promo is back!
Have you made a new furry addition to your family? Having a new dog running around the house can be incredibly exciting, but training needs to begin immediately (especially if you’re attempting to keep your carpet “oopsy” free.) Check out some of these helpful tips to set your new little guy or gal up for success!
1. It all begins with a name.
One of the most memorable experiences involved in getting a new furry best friend is picking out the perfect name. Consider choosing names that end with a strong clear ending, like “Jack,” as these names make it much easier for your pup to hear you when you call. Especially in their first few months at home, make sure to say their name often and clearly when interacting with them, and reward them for responding!
2. House rules!
Before your little furball makes his or her way home, decide what is on the puppy dos and don’ts list. Doing this before your pup arrives will help them to learn much faster than if certain rules change back and forth over time.
3. Set up a personal puppy space.
Every pup needs their own den. Whether it’s a cozy nook next to your desk or their own personal doggy bed, find space(s) that is/are reserved specifically for your dog from the moment that you bring them home. This will help them to feel more comfortable and be able to relax in a safe and calming environment!
4. Teaching time!
When having a doggy teaching moment, be sure to operate on “puppy time.” Because your furry best friend has a shorter attention span, they can forget about things that they have done approximately 2 minutes after they have done it. That means that when positively or negatively reinforcing certain behaviors with your chosen training technique, immediate action will help your pup to associate your response with their action.
5. Not sure what to do next? Give us a call!
