Resolve for Better Pet Health in 2022

Happy New Year from Arlington Veterinary Center!

With the turn of a calendar to a new year, the chance arrives for a fresh start, a good opportunity for a change mentally, physically, or nutritionally. For pet owners, these opportunities are the same for your furry family member too. While your pet may not know the difference between December 2021 and January 2022, the benefits of being healthy are sure to be realized if they’re given the opportunity.

Not everyone aspires to a new year resolution, but as a pet owner, making sure your pet is healthy can pay dividends all throughout your family!

A Healthy Pet…

Lives Longer.

Keeping your pet at a healthy weight lowers the risk for diabetes and high blood pressure. Excess weight can reduce your pet’s life expectancy by more than two years.

Is Happier!

Considering a healthy pet exhibits signs of a clean, shiny coat, fresh breath, clean ears, and regular bladder and bowel movements, who wouldn’t be happier with these symptoms!?

Still Needs a Checkup.

Not checking all of these boxes? Any one is reason to chat with us here at AVC, however, we’d still recommend a regular check-up even if your puppy or kitty is in picture perfect health. Our pets can’t exactly detail how they’re feeling all the time, so let us help!

A Pet Owner…

Is Healthier

Having a healthy pet makes a pet owner more likely to increase fitness, lower stress, and bring happiness to their everyday lives!

Is More Active

Pets demand interaction, which means, yes, you might have to get up off the couch and move a little bit with them! That interaction can elevate your own levels of serotonin and dopamine (which can calm you down and make you relaxed), while decreasing levels of cortisol (that can bring on stress).

Has Healthy Kids, too!

The Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University also outlines benefits for your children around a healthy pet. When a child has good interactions with the family pet, that pet will help cognitive stimulation, improved behavior, a better understanding of others, and more.

The bond between pet and owner is a special one. They love us unconditionally, and provide us with comfort, companionship, and humor. Show your love by resolving to make sure they stay health this year.

A path to a healthier year awaits! Let AVC guide you along the way. Come see us or contact us, and we’ll give you and your pet the chance for that fresh start in 2022!
