Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone! While many celebrate the day with recognitions to Mexican culture and heritage, our curious kitties have always wanted in on the festivities. (We all know they tend to need to be the center of attention.) So, Cinco de Meow was originated! How do our precious felines like to celebrate? Check out the list below for some ideas!
Feline spicy? Your kitty sure would love to partake in some chicken fajitas with you today – maybe topped with some ‘avo-gato’! Remember that the seasonings on Mexican food (including garlic and onions) along with avocados can be very toxic to cats.
A better course of action is to keep the enchiladas, tacos, and salsas all to yourself! It’ll be rough, but we believe in you. If you’re so inclined to share with your beloved feline, cook some lean, boneless protein for those four-legged ones in your house.
Fiesta-themed kitty toys are a sure win (or at least the box they arrive in). There are a plethora of options to be had. But for Cinco de Meow, we’d recommend a taco-, sombrero-, or pinata-shaped toy… and the more options that can be filled with catnip the better! Catnip on Cinco de Meow makes for great entertainment.
While you’re shopping for those fiesta-themed toys, don’t forget the costumes! Maybe your kitty loves to play dress-up. If so, we can’t wait to see your perfectly posed snapshots. If your kitty is costume-averse, well… we can’t wait to see those photos too. Remember, Taco Cat spelled backwards is Taco Cat!
As you get comfortable after some initial celebration, pull those kitties close on the couch for family movie time! Coco would be our recommendation for this special day, but if you need something a little more cat-focused, why not Puss In Boots?
Whether you’ve reached an intermission in your celebrations or need to come to its conclusion, an afternoon siesta will be welcomed by your faithful feline. Wrap that kitty up in a blanket and rest up next to your purrito!
